booper terms of service

These are the terms for talking to booper, written to be read. Using the bot means you're okay with them.

what booper is

booper is an experiment: a language model that starts from random weights and learns only from what consenting people send it. It is provided as-is, for fun and for research. Its replies will be nonsense for a long time and may be strange forever. They are not advice — not medical, legal, financial, or otherwise — and you shouldn't rely on them for anything that matters.

free, and staying free

booper is not a paid service. There is no subscription, no premium tier, and no selling of access, and it will stay that way for as long as its corpus contains data collected through Discord — that's our reading of, and our commitment to, Discord's terms on monetising platform data. Likewise, no data used to train booper is ever sold, and no data collected through Discord would ever be sold without the express consent of Discord itself, which we do not intend to seek.

discord's rules come first

You must follow the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines whenever you interact with booper, and you must be old enough to use Discord where you live. booper itself operates under the Discord Developer Terms of Service and Developer Policy; nothing in these terms overrides any of that. If Discord's rules and these terms ever disagree, Discord's rules win.

your words, your consent

What the bot stores, trains on, and publishes is governed entirely by the privacy policy and your explicit opt-in. Your messages remain yours. By opting in you give booper permission to store them, learn from them, and publish them in anonymised form in a public dataset — a permission you can withdraw at any moment with !babble forget, which also deletes what was kept.

what you can't do

The acceptable use policy is part of these terms. In one line: don't use booper to harm people, break Discord's rules, or poison the corpus.

enforcement and endings

We can decline to store contributions, remove text from the corpus, or stop responding to anyone who breaks these terms — quietly and without ceremony, because protecting the people in the dataset comes first. We may also pause or shut down booper entirely at any time. If that ever happens, the consent and deletion commitments in the privacy policy still stand for the data already collected.

no warranties, plainly

booper comes with no guarantees: not that it will be available, not that it will be accurate, not that it will be sensible. To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator isn't liable for anything booper says or for anything you do with it. It's a small free experiment run in good faith — please treat it that way.

changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the change will be visible here, and anything that touches what's collected about you triggers a fresh ask in Discord before it applies to you. Questions: github.com/frgmt0/babble.
